SAI HIGHLIGHTS

Hello Everyone!  Here are the highlights of the March 1st, 2008 SAI Board meeting.  Group Reps are asked to make note of the following and share this information with their groups.  Please note there are four documents attached to this email.

 

 1.    The next meeting of the SAI Board will take place on Saturday April 5th, 2008, commencing at 9:30am at the Calgary Co-Op, lower level community room, 540 – 16th Avenue NE.  Please remember to sign in at Customer Service (located on the west side of the store).

 

2.    The principle of this third month (as it relates to Step 3) is Faith.

 

3.    In recognizing SAI’s Goal for this year - Outreach - Reaching out to Groups, Board Members and Group Reps are encouraged to attend meetings other than their “home” meeting.  During the sharing portion you are encouraged to explain how you are involved on the SAI Board and the goal SAI has set for this year.  The following meetings do not have a Group Rep:  Tuesday Evening, Thursday Evening, Saturday Morning First Alliance (temporarily closed) and Saturday Morning McDougall (pending confirmation from this group that they no longer have a group rep).

 

4.    Wednesday Afternoon Group is hosting a Marathon – Wednesday March 5th, 2008 – 1:30pm - 3:30pm, Holy Name Church – 2223 – 34th Street SW (NW, rear entrance), lower level.  Poster attached.

 

 

5.    LITERATURE NEWS!  With the change in the value of the Canadian dollar against US dollars, SAI has revised the formula that costs out OA literature purchased from World Service.  A motion was passed, adopting the new literature formula and agreeing to absorb the cost of shipping OA literature to outlying areas (anything outside of the Calgary city limits), to a maximum of two shipments each year.  In addition, it was agreed that SAI would reimburse the difference between the previous literature formula and the new approved literature formula, for all literature orders placed from January 1st, 2008 to current date.  Literature orders can be placed by contacting Michell G at 277-1677 or 390-0196 or via email – Michell.Gillard@von.ca

7.    Region One Spring Fling (small retreat) – being held in Kelowna – April 4th & 5th, 2008.   All Region One positions are filed with the exception of Co-Chair.

8.    AGM – Positions Open at June 7th, 2008 Meeting:

Two Year Positions:  Secretary, Treasurer, Public Information,

One Year Positions: Archivist, Retreat & Marathon, Tape Library, Webmaster.

9.    Spring Retreat – May 23rd – 25th, 2008 - $160.00/person, includes accommodation(single room in a four bedroom condo with kitchen, 2 bathrooms and living room) use of large swimming pool with waterslide and hot tubs for two hours Saturday afternoon, lunch and dinner on Saturday.  Brochure attached.

 

10.    Neighbours Article - attached you will find an article that appeared in the February 21st, 2008 edition of Neighbours.
